Despite govt order, doctors insist emotional relatives have to be dealt with first

The increasing waiting list of recipients seeking organ transplants in Pune has become a cause of concern as, despite the recent government resolution, neurosurgeons and neurologists still fail to announce the status of a patient who is an apt match for donating organs, especially a patient who is braindead. The waiting list in Pune is around 200 and is increasing at 20 per cent every year. The Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC) of Pune has, in fact, alleged that the list is increasing because of doctors neglecting to communicate the status of the patients.
